1. DESCRIPTION:
Starch can be treated with different oxidizing agents to obtain oxidized starch. Under the influence of oxidizing agents, in the starch molecule, the glucoside bonds and granule structure break down. Starch can be broken down more or less, so it has shorter bonds than regular starch.
This type of starch helps improve whiteness and reduce microbial content, has good thin film forming force, low water absorption, high gloss, and free flexibility. Furthermore, hydrogen bonding will reduce the tendency to degenerate. During the production process, the products are colloidal, soft, and highly transparent.
Oxidized starch is the best thickener for gel-like and low-hardness products. The soluble solution of oxidized starch can maintain clarity during long-term storage, so it is suitable for making canned soups, seasonings and confectionery products that require clarity.
Oxidized starch is also widely used for surface sizing in the paper industry and fiber sizing in the textile industry.
